Golf 4 Life
September 15, 2021
The day was all about celebrating each unique stroke survivor and their ability to Champion the Challenges of their rehabilitation.
About the Event
The Pacific Stroke Association, Los Lagos Golf Course, City of San Jose, Local Hospitals, and Champion the Challenges held this event for the stroke community. The event provided survivors, caregivers, and families the opportunity to socialize and enjoy a day outside. Stroke survivors had the opportunity to improve their strength and flexibility by adding golf to their rehabilitation activities. This year’s event included a putting challenge, three-hole golf and a panel of stroke survivors presenting tips on getting back to life, based on their unique journeys.
Therapist from local hospitals provided balance assessments, and guided survivors throughout the program. Nurses from local hospitals conducted blood pressure screenings. Exhibitors displayed the latest in stroke recovery technology, including acupuncture, virtual reality, and adaptive equipment to aid rehabilitation.
This Year’s Three Panelists
After lunch the program included three inspiring speakers: Neil Kehoe, a Hemorrhagic stroke survivor; Tom Ryan, an AFib stroke survivor; and Orlena Fong Shek, who survived a rare Moyamoya Disease and stroke. Read each of the three panelists stroke stories by using the link below
